The brief ‘Scott King’ was designed to advertise Scott King’s visiting lecture, a graphic/fine artist. Both Lexi Lindley and I found through the approach of research that the majority of content regarding King’s work was to provoke his audience in some way. As a response, the posters themselves were designed to provoke Scott slightly also. Nor photography or computer software was used as making the posters hand-made was introduced through the content. The work became unique and gave the viewer a different reaction from each. The idea of confusing our audience by the name change, by some posters addressing the artist as the famous author ‘Stephen’ King. Therefore reflected King stronger than using his previous work. The confusion began a conversation between the work and the viewer, so the content was much more valuable than the visual outcome.
